WELLINGTON will be chasing their first victory of the season when they play at home to Welton Rovers in the Premier Division of the Toolstation Football League today (Sat, 3p.m.).

Shay Allen returns in goal for Wellington after being sidelined through injury for a month.

So far, Wellington's search to strengthen their side has come up with a blank, but assistant player-manager Jack Porter says it is not for "the want of trying.'

He said: "My focus at the moment is off the pitch and looking for players. I have to bring in the right sort of player.

"Looking back, we made a mistake at Saltash by bringing in a couple of players. We have to have players with the right attitude."

Wellington have trained twice weekly, having not played for a fortnight. Their last game was a 1-1 home draw against St Blazey which they could easily have won. However, they will be without Porter who is attending a wedding.

Wellington, who have now played ten matches without success, should go into today's game with confidence, because Rovers have not made the best of starts to the season.

Wellington Reserves, who are second in Division One despite dropping two points in a 1-1 home draw against East Budleigh last weekend, are away to early leaders St Martins who have won four of their five fixtures. Wellington are two points behind with a game in hand.

Wellington A, who are lying fourth in Division One of the Taunton and District Saturday League despite drawing three of their four matches, are home to Galmington Reserves who have yet to win a game.

However, Wellington can be pleased with their start and are still unbeaten.

There is a full programme of matches in the Taunton Saturday, Somerset Sunday and Taunton Youth Leagues this weekend, plus games in the Somerset Women's and Girls Leagues.
