WELLINGTON will soon have its own hockey club.
Wellington Fox's Hockey Club has already held two practice sessions on the Astroturf at Wellington which attracted 30 players on the first night and 40 the next.
Sarah Browne, sister of Wellington Rugby Club's player-coach Matt Parsons, said yesterday: "We hold our practice sessions on Tuesday evenings between 6.30 and 7.30.
We welcome anyone to come along."
"Our intention is to form a mixed team for the summer and then a men's and ladies team for the winter, possibly playing league hockey.
"The first session at the school is free, and then it is £3 for adults and £2 for juniors.
"We have two coaches, myself and Gary Beasley, both level 2 qualified hockey coaches, and two volunteer coaches Tom Perry and Polly Wheller to assist with juniors. We split juniors into age groups 5-6, 7-9 and 9-12 years old. Then there is an adult group."
Anyone interested in joining the club is invited to turn up at Wellington School on Tuesday nights and make themselves known to Sarah.
