WELLINGTON endured the agony of going out of the Les Phillips Cup to a last-gasp goal on Saturday.

Not at full-strength and suffering injuries during the game they lost 1-0 at home to Premier Division opponents Sherborne Town at the Playing Field.

“We didn’t deserve to lose the game,” said former manager Mike Hawes afterwards.

“We had enough chances to have won the tie but they snatched it at the end.”

Brothers Sam and Jack Bryant were both injured in the game and assistant player-manager Tim Legg, Jack Porter and goalkeeper Kryan Wilkins did not play.

Mitch Woodgate, normally an outfield player, stood in for Wilkins and did extremely well.

Hayden Binding snapped up the only goal of the game with only a few minutes remaining.

Wellington Reserves beat Alphington Reserves 4-2 away in the first division of the Devon and Exeter League, while Hemyock won their first match of the season when they beat Heavitree United in the Devon Senior Cup.
