WELLINGTON’S champion motorcycle racer Phil Webber is looking to retain his NG Road Racing Formula Prostocks FP2 Pre 87 Production Championship title in 2018 on his Suzuki GSX-R 750, as well as focusing on taking top spot in the Pre-Injection 1300 championship on his 27 year old Honda Fireblade this year too, writes Kerry Rawson.
If finances allow he will also compete in selected Phoenix open and/or powerbike rounds, so he’s going to be very busy on track in 2018. With the possibility of competing in three/four separate championships on two very different motorbikes in one weekend, it’s going to be a physically demanding year for Phil, so he’s stepped up his pre-season training regime to match which has included lots of trials bike riding and a gruelling schedule at the gym six days a week in preparation for the campaign ahead.
Webber’s racing is all self-funded with all his funds swallowed up on entry fees and other racing sundries.
However, if any local business would like more information about sponsorship then please don’t hesitate to get in contact. Phil will be out on track again on March 17-18 at Brands Hatch for the first races of 2018 where he’s hoping to continue his 100 per cent winning ways. The WWN will be looking forward to following his progress.
