CHRISTMAS Day 1940s style has been re-enacted by a team from Wellington-based dementia charity Reminiscence Learning. They staged a moving tableau with original memorabilia in the Orchard Centre window of Hatchers department store in Taunton which saw them open their stockings in front of the fire, have their hair authentically styled by the Hair Studio, make mince pies at the traditional kitchen cabinet and lay the table and share Christmas dinner with Paul Hughes, president of the Rotary Club of Taunton Vale.Shoppers also saw them welcome VIP guests – Deputy Mayor of Taunton Deane Cllr Vivienne Stock-Williams and Mayor of Taunton Deane Cllr Marcia Hill with her consort, and they all opened presents and shared in traditional Christmas fare.

Father Christmas and volunteers from the Rotary Club of Taunton Vale played 1940s Christmas music and collected £231.80 to help local people living with dementia.

Reminiscence Learning would like to thank everyone involved for sharing a fun day and hopes they will join them next year for a 1950s Christmas Day.
