POLICE have reported that a suspected criminal has volunteered to be put on a tag to prove his innocence.

One person was arrested but no further action was taken due to a lack of evidence presented to the Crown Prosecution Service. But PCSO Bramley said the person had volunteered to be tagged in order to ‘prove he is not causing offences’ in Wellington.
Tagging is a form of surveillance which uses an electronic device fitted to a person and can monitor curfews and conditions of a court or prison order.
