Crews from Wellington, Wiveliscombe and Cullompton spent over four hours at the scene of a fire in a garage that spread to the adjoining kitchen of a domestic property in the Holcombe Rogus area on Saturday evening.

On arrival, crews were faced with smoke and flames issuing and requested further assistance from Tiverton fire station for additional water.

The garage was fully destroyed by fire, the kitchen sustained 90 per cent fire damage, the remainder of the ground floor of the property suffered 80 per cent smoke damage while the first floor of the property sustained ten per cent smoke damage.

Calls to the fire came in at around 6.45pm and it was extinguished by 11.15pm. The cause of the fire was accidental.
