WELLINGTON Town Council has agreed to financially support an Indian dance group to the tune of more than £600.

Members of the council’s finance committee were told at their latest meeting that the Avtar Indian Dance group had applied for a grant of £613.99 to help fund Wellington Community Dance-a-Long workshops.

Cllr Vivienne Stock Williams said: “I support this application as they have supported a lot of events locally and bring colour and vibrancy to the town.”

Cllr John Thorne said: “I must admit I hadn’t heard of this group before but I was interested to read their application. This is something we should support.”

Councillors recommended supporting the application and this was later agreed by the full council.
