A MAN has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article following an alleged crossbow attack in a Wellington residential area.
Anthony Northover, aged 43, of Wardleworth Way, appeared at Taunton Deane Magistrates Court, which is currently sitting in Worle, near Weston-super-Mare, on Wednesday, June 11, charged with attempted murder and possession of bladed article in a public place, following a crossbow attack on Monday, June 9, which left another man wounded.
Northover has been remanded into custody to next appear at Taunton Crown Court on Friday, July 11.
It was reported that on Monday, June 9, a man suffered a wound from a crossbow bolt, in an incident which happened in Wardleworth Way at around 9.50pm.
The wounded man, in his 30s, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken for treatment in Musgrove Park Hospital, in Taunton.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said the man’s injuries were ‘not believed to be life-threatening’.

Northover was arrested nearby on suspicion of wounding with intent and remained in police custody until his appearance in court on Wednesday (June 11).
Two police cars were seen parked in Wardleworth Way on Tuesday, June 10, and a police cordon was put in place while the investigation was underway.
Neighbourhood Inspector Joe Piscina said: “This was a shocking incident and a full investigation is well underway, although we do believe it involved two people who were known to each other.
“Fortunately, the victim escaped more serious injuries and he has now been discharged from hospital to continue his recovery at home.
