Six Wellington neighbours have been left stunned after winning a combined £180,000 in the People’s Postcode Lottery.

The winners each scooped £30,000 after their TA21 8TE Buckwell postcode was announced as a winner in the lottery.

Lorna Brady, 74, a former professional dancer and dance instructor, said the money was ‘life-changing’ when she was presented with her cheque.

She said: “I’ve performed on stage in front of thousands of people but I’ve never been as nervous as I was today. I’m just so excited, I’m actually shaking. I’ve never won anything in my life!

“I’m a pensioner on pension credits and I support my daughter and two grandchildren as well, so this is going to help.”

Lorna said she planned to celebrate with her daughter, a single mum, with a bottle of wine.

Lorna added that she had some treats for her grandchildren in mind: “The eldest one has just turned 19 and just gone to university. I’ll help her out with the fees and books and things. The little one does horse riding, so I’ll buy the uniforms and pay for the lessons.”

Lorna said she also planned to treat herself to a cruise, possibly to the Caribbean, the fjords or the Greek Islands.

Couple Leslie Tubb, 64, and Linda Biddulph, 63, both scooped a prize cheque for £30,000.

Leslie, who works as a limousine driver, said they would need to think about how to spend their winnings but that a holiday was on the horizon.

He said: “I’ll put it in the bank for the time being, then we’ll book a holiday and go off for a week or a month.”

Linda added: “I’m going to take my time and think about what I want to do. I could get something or go on an adventure or something like that. It’s going to be good.”

Leslie said: “Mauritius is lovely, I’ve been there but a long time ago, but Linda really wants to go there.”

The other winners were either unavailable to collect their cheques in person or chose to remain anonymous.
