POLICE have been congratulated on sorting out anti-social behaviour problems in Wellington over the summer.
Earlier this year the town was plagued with problems of unruly behaviour by young people – but the police have worked hard to clamp down on the trouble-makers.
The police received 21 calls during August about anti-social behaviour in the town which represents a reduction on previous months.
PCSO Steve Hill said: “There is normally a reduction at this time of year in anti-social behaviour with so many people away but we have seen a vast improvement in the behaviour of some of our ‘best known’

He told members of Wellington Town Council last week that the ‘group of people which have been keeping us busy have been towing the line’.
“Everyone seems to have been enjoying themselves in the good weather rather than causing issues,” he said.
Cllr Andrew Govier said: “I would like to commend the police for all their efforts over the summer.”
Cllr Bob Bowrah said that seeing mounted police officers in the town every so often had made a positive impact.
