FIRE broke out at a terraced property in Stawley, near Wellington, shortly before 11am today (August 16).

Smoke was billowing from the building when two fire engines from Wellington and one from Wiveliscombe arrived at the scene along with an officer.

The fire, believed to have been caused by a log burner, was confined to the ground floor. The electrics and gas were isolated by the crews, allowing them to get to work with two breathing apparatus, two jets, a positive pressure fan and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.

This resulted in five per cent fire damage to the kitchen but 100 per cent smoke damage throughout the building.
