TWO people remain in hospital following a “serious” collision on the key Somerset A358 road.
Police say the injuries of the man and woman involved in the incident are no longer believed to be either life-threatening or life-changing.
On Friday, August 8, emergency services were called to a road traffic collision just after 12pm after a white Peugeot 108 car left the A358 near West Bagborough.
Two land ambulances, one air ambulance, a tactical commander, a hazardous area response team, the fire services and police were dispatched to the scene between Combe Florey and the junction of New Road which was closed to motorists.
A spokesperson for Taunton Fire Station said: “Crews worked alongside paramedics to release the two casualties using small tools, who were taken into the care of the ambulance service and conveyed to hospital via road and air ambulance.”
A man was reportedly transported to Musgrove Park Hospital by land ambulance and a woman by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital that afternoon.
At 4pm on Friday, August 8, police said they believed that the woman faced life-threatening injuries, and the man, life-changing ones. Police now understand that their injuries are no longer considered to be either.
Both the man and the woman remain in hospital.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “A man and a woman remain in hospital following a single-vehicle collision the A358 near West Bagborough in Somerset.
“Thankfully we understand their injuries are no longer considered to be either life-threatening or life-changing.
“Investigation is ongoing into the cause of the collision, involving a white Peugeot 108.
