Unearthed Latin documents which reveal the storied history of Hemyock castle are to be exhibited in the village.

The artefacts will be on show on Sunday, September 10, at Hemyock castle and in St Mary's Church.

The castle dates to medieval times, and was partly destroyed during the English Civil War after being sieged on two occasions.

Now the full history of the historic site will be revealed after original documents have come to light.

Michael Cooper of the Hemyock History Group said the documents were a 'brilliant' find, and encouraged people from far and wide to come and see them when they go on display on Sunday.

Found in the British Library, the documents tell the story of the castle's owners, including Sir John de Dynham, who played a key role in the War of the Roses.
