ARCHIE – the central figure in Wellington-based charity Reminiscence Learning’s inter-generational dementia awareness Archie Project – had great fun at Vivary Adventure Centre in Taunton.
Archie was joined by the mayor of Taunton Deane, Cllr Marcia Hill, and deputy mayor of Taunton Deane, Cllr Vivienne Stock-Williams, the team from Reminiscence Learning and Kevin Smith from Santander, which is supporting the event.
Archie braved the high ropes, gladiator climb and even did a power fan jump descending from 9m high.
The event marked the launch of Reminiscence Learning’s plans for Archie’s Record Breaking Birthday Party on Sunday, May 22, at the end of National Dementia Awareness Week.
A free fun day will run from 10am - 4pm for all the family in Vivary Park with stage and musical entertainment provided by Orchard FM, market stands, fun fair rides, circus tent and food stalls.
The charity is also looking to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as scarecrows with a celebratory birthday cake provided by Ministry of Cake.
Everyone who would like to be part of the record attempt needs to register their interest and will then be sent an information pack stating exactly what they need to do on the day.
For more information, or to register to be a scarecrow, email [email protected] – people will then be invited to join a list where we will ask for more details.
