THE 1950s is the theme for this year’s summer fete being arranged by St Mary’s church, Hemyock, and held on Saturday (July 13).

The traditional event is at a new venue, in and around the church, and will run from 2.30-4pm. John Northam, a pupil at the local primary school during the 1950s and a member of Hemyock Scout Group since he joined as a Cub, will open the event.

In keeping with the 1950s theme Knobbly Knees and Shapely Ankles competitions will be held, a 1959 Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite will be on display and music from the period will be played. Visitors and stallholders are invited to wear fashion from the era, whether it is hat and gloves or a full outfit.

Among the variety of stalls are cakes, plants, sweets, records, raffle and a selection of boxed Burago cars. Teas will be served in the church where visitors will be able to use the new communal area/ toilets.

Anyone who would like to book a stall should contact Patricia on 01823 680436l.
