AS the pomp and ceremony of Coronation Day on May 6 comes at an end in London, the fun will just be starting in Clayhidon, on the Blackdown Hills above Wellington.
Plans are taking shape for an open air party which organisers hope will draw the community together after the long pandemic.
The parish council, village hall committee, and a group of volunteers are putting together an event they hopie everybody will enjoy.
Casey Blackmore is planning a children’s tea party and craft activities, including crown making, starting at 4 pm.
Russell and Caroline Bendle are giving the use of their field near the village hall for the event, and Richard Drew is providing a marquee.
There will be a licensed bar run by the hall committee, food and dancing to the Trevor James Band, and a raffle in aid of the Children’s Hospice South West.
A welcome will be extended to newcomers to the parish, for whom Covid made it a difficult time to get to know people.
Anybody who would like to help on the night or in setting up beforehand should contact Nicola Bendle by emailing [email protected] or calling 07484 522986.
