FIREFIGHTERS were today, Tuesday, still at the scene of a bonfire that got out of control yesterday, threatening to engulf up to 6,000 tyres.

Firefighters wearing breathing sets from Wellington, Wiveliscombe, Taunton and Bridgwater fought a blaze at Trickey Warren Farm, Churchstanton yesterday with two main jets and foam to stop it spreading to large piles of woodchippings and tyres.

The fire was still being damped down this morning after the initial alarm call came at 11:53am yesterday.
