THE Bradford on Tone Flower Show team opened the doors of the Village Hall for the first show since 2019 - after cancellations due to Covid.

Despite the weather showing signs of interrupting the day, it didn’t prevent a good turnout.

Lead organiser Paul Walden said: “All who attended thoroughly enjoyed viewing the 10 sections on display.”

The show attracted 222 entries, to the delight of the visitors. The landlady from the White Horse – Heather, presented the prizes to the winning contestants.

George Nicholls won four trophies - the Martin Memorial Cup, Margaret Eccles Cup, Neil Palk Memorial Cup and the Open Challenge Cup, having receiving the most points in the show.

Mandy Morgan won the Christine Tripp Memorial Cup along with the Hoare Cup by producing the best in Show exhibit.

David Smith once again won the Davey Rose Trophy.

David Smith once again won the DaThe Betty Elliot Cup for the best Victoria Sponge was won by Patricia Powell.

Graham Hatcher took the Garden Club Cup and Voucher with an amazing potato weight of 7lbs 2ozs.

Willowbrook Nursery, sponsor of the ‘Heaviest crop of Potatoes grown in a bucket’ challenge enjoyed 25 entries.

In the Young People’s category, for each of their ‘Painted Pebbles’ Blackmore Plate went to Paddy Chmiewliski, who won first place in the ‘7 and under, along with Zara Popham in the 8 – 12.

Vouchers were presented for the best in section to the following: -

Mr M Broom obtained two firsts or the Fruit and Flower section.

Jackie Crouch won the best exhibit in the Floral Art

Mrs V Lovell won the best in the Cookery section.

Paul Walden won the best Pastie in the Men only Challenge.

Eileen Barrett won the best exhibit in the Handicraft.

Ali Smith won the best exhibit in the Art section.

Kelly Barrett won the best exhibit in the Photo section.

The New Scarecrow Challenge saw 18 placed all around the village which caused great interest and enjoyment. The trophy and voucher was won by Vicki Lovell.

Finally, the catering team under the guidance of Margaret Stock produced teas and delicious scones and cakes for all to enjoy.

Paul added: “The show team were grateful to all of the helpers that worked so diligently behind the scenes to help make the day being as successful and enjoyable for us all.”
