ODETTE’S Tea Room in High Street, Wellington, did its bit for SSAFA when it took part in the Armed Forces charity’s Big Brew Up.
The tea room aimed to raise awareness and money for the organisation through a window display, collecting boxes and raffle for two hampers last Wednesday.
Mayor of Wellington Cllr Bob Bowrah, who served 27 years in the Army, went along to support the event.
Bob was in the Royal Army Service Corps from 1959-65 and the Royal Army Ordnance Corps from 1965-86, and was awarded the British Empire Medal in 1980 for his military service.

Wellington Town Council offers 'tips & tricks' for residents to tackle climate changeSue Adams, Wellington chairman of the Friends of SSAFA Somerset, who also attended the event, said SSAFA – Soldiers, Sailors and Airmens Families Association – was the oldest military charity.
It provides lifelong support to serving men and women and veterans from the British Armed Forces and their families or dependants.
Odette’s was named after Second World War heroine Odette Hallows, who was French but worked as a British agent in wartime France and lived near Wellington.
