BROWNIE Scarlett Joiner has made Milverton Brownie Unit history and become one of a limited number of girls nationwide to achieve a full set of 57 ‘interest’ badges.

She is a talented swimmer and the Swimmer and Swimmer Advanced badges were among the first she earned. Her final accomplishments were the Brownie Camper and Camper Advanced badges.

Scarlett, ten, also has badges ranging from Agility to Writer, plus several regional and commemorative badges, some earned alongside other girls in her unit but many undertaken in her own time.

Unit Leader Nikki Ross said: “I am delighted that Scarlett embraced Girlguiding’s purpose so avidly, to discover and grow, developing her potential.”

Scarlett joined the unit at the age of seven and at her final Brownie meeting, as she looked forward to becoming a member of Milverton Guide Unit, she said: “I’ve loved being a Brownie!”

Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK.

Through weekly meetings and special events the unit offers its girl-only members space to be themselves, have fun, make friends from other schools and gain valuable life skills.
