ENTRIES are being invited for a Somerset award scheme which highlights excellent building design and construction.
Architects, contractors and owners are being asked to submit schemes they feel deserve recognition by being given one of the prestigious Stansell Awards by the Somerset Building Preservation Trust.
It can be a new building, the repair or extension of an existing building that respects its character or a restoration project that breathes new life into a building.
The only stipulation is that the work must have been completed within the previous two years.

Rise in hospital admissions for stress and anxiety in SomersetRussell Lillford, chairman of the Somerset Building Preservation Trust, said: “The size and cost of a project is not a consideration. We have given awards to projects big and small, involving historic buildings and new builds.
“Our aim is to raise the standard of design and construction and show the positive contribution that well-designed and conserved buildings make to their surroundings.”
The Stansell Awards were launched 20 years ago in memory of William Stansell, who was chairman of an old established building firm and whose great love was the conservation and repair of historic buildings.
Every entry is visited by the panel of expert judges and the results of their deliberations are announced at an awards evening.
The closing date for entries is Thursday, May 7, with judging taking place during the summer.
