BECAUSE the scheme was considered too big and intrusive, Wellington Town Council decided to object to an application to erect a three bedroomed chalet bungalow and a two bedroomed bungalow on land at the rear of 29-31 North Street, Wellington, and adjoining Lodge Close.

Cllr Andrew Govier said the site would be suitable for a well-designed property which would not have an adverse affect on neighbours but two were just too much. Those proposed were out of keeping and too close to existing properties.

Cllr Janet Reed described the proposals as ‘too big and intrusive’. Neighbour Peter Redding said the plan would cause overlooking and a loss of privacy visual amenity.

The town council agreed to recommend Taunton Deane Borough Council, which will make the final decision, to refuse the application.
