CARE worker Kayleigh Nichol, who works at Popham Court in Wellington, has been honoured at an awards ceremony.

She was highly commended in the best newcomer category at the Somerset Care Group awards held at Somerset County Cricket Ground in Taunton.

Staff were nominated by their colleagues, customers and health care professionals with a winner being announced in each category.

Somerset Care is one of the largest not-for-profit healthcare providers in southern England. The company provides more than 29,000 hours of community care every week to people in their own homes and through its residential care services operates 31 care homes which provide residential and nursing care for more than 1,550 residents.
