WELLINGTON Carnival Committee helped Santa and a VIP chosen by the community arrive at a Somerset garden centre on a carnival float on Saturday.

The committee transported Father Christmas and Lucy Phillips, eight, who was nominated by her family and the community, from Taunton train station on a float they built.

Wellington Carnival Committee secretary Louise Brierley said: “We were thrilled to assist Father Christmas on his journey to Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre. We picked him and Lucy up from Taunton train station and they travelled on our specially-built float, which comes complete with life-sized flying reindeer, sleigh, illuminations and sound system. It was great fun and we hope lots of people enjoyed welcoming us and Santa at the garden centre.”

Members of the Wellington Majorettes also escorted Santa while dressed as elves and snowmen.
