The Churches Together Carols with the Silver Band, planned to be staged by Wellington’s Christmas tree in High Street, was moved to the United Reformed Church due to poor weather.
Including the band, about 50 people attended and enjoyed traditional carols and seasonal Bible readings, one read by Wellington Mayor Cllr Janet Lloyd.
Steve Jenkins from Life Central Church provided a thoughtful Christian comment, and hot drinks and mince pies concluded the event.
Members from various Wellington churches got together to go carol singing around the town’s pubs, beginning at The Dolphin and ending at the Barley Mow. As in past years a collection was made for Children’s Hospice South West.
The singers would like to thank all the pub landlords for letting them sing and all those who gave – £330 was raised.
