NYNEHEAD Court is taking part in the NGS Open Gardens Scheme on Sunday (February 19), the second year running it has participated during the winter months.
Nynehead Court’s 13 acres of parkland are open to the public and tended by professional gardeners, and the home has traditionally taken part in the NGS scheme during the spring and summer. Last year for the first time it took part earlier in the year, allowing visitors to see the grounds in a different way with an abundance of primroses and snowdrops. The event was very popular and so it is being repeated this year.
The grounds are open 2-4.30pm on Sunday (entrance £5) and head gardener Justin Cole will be conducting a tour of the gardens at 2pm. Home-made teas and hot soup will be available in the home’s orangery for visitors wishing to warm up after the tour.
Home Manager Angela Watkins said: “Nynehead Court is always delighted to be part of the Open Gardens Scheme and we hope that our visitors enjoy seeing our grounds at a different time of year.
“Our next event will be our ‘Nature Day’ on March 25 and we have an exciting day planned with expert speakers, activities for children and adults, demonstrations and a hawk display. Gates open at 11am and well-known naturalist and broadcaster Chris Sperring MBE will make an official welcome at 11.15am.”
