SOMERDALE International, the Chelston-based exporter of British cheese to more than 50 countries, is set to showcase the best of British cheese and dairy products in Hong Kong.

Asia’s leading food and hospitality trade show HOFEX is expected to attract more than 50,000 regional trade buyers to the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre between Monday and Thursday.

Somerdale’s stand will showcase its extensive range of British cheeses, butter and cream, and it believes the event will provide a strong platform from which to further build its sales and relationships in Hong Kong and the wider Chinese and Asian marketplaces.

The firm already has an established presence in the region with a network of regional distributors covering Hong Kong and the major Chinese cities. It has also instigated regular sea and air shipments to Hong Kong and Shanghai.

It supplies cheeses in a range of retail packs as well as foodservice-specific products to restaurants, hotels and food manufacturers. It has also developed a position in the growing retail and business to business e-commerce sectors.

Somerdale director Stephen Jones said: “There is an ever-growing demand for high quality dairy products in the fast-developing Asian markets and we are witnessing increasing interest in British cheese.

“We have a great story to tell in relation to product quality, environmental standards and provenance, and HOFEX we believe will provide us with a great platform to communicate this to existing and potential new customers in Hong Kong and the wider Chinese and Asian marketplaces."
