STUDENT Cheyenne Jordan from Hemyock met Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on a visit to Whitehall organised by the Children’s Commissioner for England and the Cabinet Office’s Youth Policy Team.

Cheyenne, 17, was one of a number of young people selected to take part in the annual Takeover Challenge event but was the only one at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

The Richard Huish College, Taunton, student hopes to study Economics at university and was delighted to be offered the opportunity to shadow the Director General – Economic and Consular – at the Foreign Office.

Cheyenne was given a tour of the building with its opulent rooms and was shown where important historical documents had been signed – and going through one door was surprised to find herself directly opposite 10 Downing Street.

She also attended meetings where some of the discussions proved relevant to her A-level Geography course.

And Cheyenne attended a private wreath-laying ceremony for Foreign Office officials who had died in the line of duty.
