PEOPLE in Wellington are being urged to take part in a consultation on family

support services after plans were announced to close the popular children’s centre based at Beech Grove Primary School in the town.

Wellington and Rockwell Green’s representative at County Hall, Cllr Andrew Govier, has criticised aspects of Somerset County Council’s consultation and called for a more fundamental review of family support services.

He said he was disappointed that the council’s ‘starting point’ was the planned closure of the children’s centre at Beech Grove which had supported hundreds of local families and children over the last few years.

Now Cllr Govier has called on as many people as possible to contribute to the consultation and make sure Wellington gets the resources it needs.
