CHAIRMAN of the Royal British Legion Wellington branch Ray Filler invited Wellington Children’s Centre to contribute to its Garden of Remembrance at Wellington Park.

Marion Vincent, a family support worker from getset services, and Emma Rowlandson, community development officer from Taunton Deane Borough Council, decided the Little Explorers group should take part in this event.

Little Explorers is a group of young children and their parents who attend the weekly outdoor PEEP Programme at the children’s centre. The youngsters, aged from 15 months to three years, rose to the challenge by getting messy and creating wonderful thumbprint Poppy Fields.

They joined the small gathering in the park on Thursday, November 10, and placed their artwork among the knitted poppies made by members of Wellington WI.

Everyone stood silently to remember those who have fought in the battlefields past and present while Ray Filler read the Exhortation followed by the Kohima.

It was a great opportunity for families to be part of something special in their local community and see their creations on display for all those visiting the park.
