Webber’s C of E Voluntary Aided Primary School, has retained its ‘outstanding’ status in its recent Church School Inspection and was set to receive its award from Bishop Sarah on Monday.
Anglican and Methodist Schools are inspected not only by OFSTED but also receive a further statutory inspection (SIAMS – National Society Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) which focuses on the effect the Christian ethos of the church school has on the children who attend it.
The school, with 74 pupils, was rated as outstanding in all categories, including its ‘distinctiveness and effectiveness as a Church of England school.’ It was also rated as outstanding at meeting the needs of all learners and for the impact of collective worship on the school community, as well as the effectiveness of the religious education. It was also outstanding in the leadership and management of the church school.
The report states: “The school’s distinctive Christian character is of a high quality, is deeply embedded and has a significant impact on the whole school community.” It particularly praised the headteacher’s Christian vision and described it as “the driving force at the heart of the school’s success.”
Executive head teacher Deborah Eveleigh said: “I am extremely delighted we have retained our outstanding Church School Inspection report. The whole community of children, staff, governors, parents, families, friends and the church, have worked hard together to ensure that we live true to our mission statement: ‘Climb to your highest… for yourself, for others and for God.”
