CLEVERLY Everly – the band featuring former Points West and WWN reporter Clinton Rogers – is finally taking to the stage again.

Because of Covid-19, the band has not played since March last year. But its comeback gig will be this month – at Bradford-on-Tone village hall on Saturday, July 31, starting at 8pm.

Clinton said this week: “There’s a small matter of remembering the words and chords after all this time away – but we are really looking forward to getting in front of people again, always assuming the Government does relax restrictions later this month.”

As the name implies, Cleverly Everly recreates the music of the famous Everly Brothers but also delves in the rich musical archive of the 1960s, featuring music from artists as diverse as the Shadows and Dusty Springfield and Elvis Presley.

The band comprises Clinton, his brother Stan, his wife Uta and lead guitarist Steve Craig. They have played to packed venues across the West since getting together seven years ago.

On August 13 they will also be playing at the Princess Theatre in Burnham-on-Sea. But Bradford-on-Tone marks their comeback, convenient for Clinton as he lives in the village!

The performance is to raise money for the village hall. Tickets, priced £12.50, are on sale now and can be obtained from village hall secretary Ali Smith on 07789 762179.
