THE town council are looking for a contractor to build a pump track at the Recreation Ground in Wellington.

Work on the pump track, which will cost Wellington Town Council £175,000, is due to start in May or June 2026 and will take around two months.

A pump track is a purpose-built track for cycling.

It has a circuit of rollers, banked turns and features designed to be ridden completely by riders “pumping” – generating momentum by up and down body movements, instead of pedalling or pushing.

The Wellington pump track, near Court Fields School, will accommodate mountain bikes, BMX bikes, skateboards, micro scooters, roller skates, inline skates and sport wheelchairs.

The tender submission deadline is at 12 pm on February 27.
