THE Friendship Circle of Langford Budville, Runnington and Surrounding Areas was entertained by the fabulous singing of Tom Carpenter on Friday, December 8.

He has appeared on ‘The Voice’ on television and sang classics by Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, Dean Martin and more. Members joined in with the singing and had a wonderful time.

The group’s first Christmas raffle had 17 prizes given by local shops and businesses including Tim Potter Family Butcher, The Iron Duke, Tesco, The World’s End, Morrison’s, Waitrose and more.

Members left the Jubilee Hall and met up again at The Martlet Inn where they were spoilt with a two-course Christmas lunch enjoyed by more than 40 members.

The group will be back after the new year, meeting up on Friday, January 12, at 11am. This is later than usual and members all agreed it was a much better time to start.

They will be preparing their next six-month calendar and asking members to vote on where and what they would like the group to organise. This will be published in the WWN when formalised.

Anyone who feels they would like to join members is invited to go along, have a ‘cuppa’ and a chat. Members will be pleased to see you.

The committee would like to wish all past, present and future members a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and thank them all for their support.
