THE regeneration of a major site in the middle of Wellington, together with the transformation of Cornhill into a 'mini-mall' has come a step closer after plans for the project were submitted to council planners this week.
The radical plans show Cornhill roofed over with a glass atrium, and five new four-storey blocks of apartments on a derelict site between Cornhill and Fore Street.
Properties fronting Cornhill are also to get a make-over.
In all, 78 apartments are planned, including 52 two-bedroom and 26 one-bedroom dwellings, with parking for 24 cars.
Members of Wellington town council will have to wait until next month to debate the proposals, as details were received too late for April's council meeting.
