HOUSEHOLDERS in Wellington and across Taunton Deane will have to fork out another 3% in council tax in the coming year.
But in a statement issued today, Taunton Deane Borough Council said the rise was below the current retail price index, which stands at 4%.
The proposed increase will mean that Taunton Deane's share of the bill for an average Band D property will increase from £128.05 to £131.89 – or 7.4p a week.
For 2008/09 a band D taxpayer will pay a total of £2.54 per week for the services provided by The Deane.
