THE Avtar Indian dance group, which performs at many events in Wellington, has been given a financial boost by the town council.
The group applied to the council’s finance committee for a £390 contribution for hall hire and materials for their dance sessions, which also acted as social events for local people.
The finance committee met on February 20 and was fully supportive of the group and its grant application.
Cllr Janet Lloyd said: “The group always turn up at events we hold, they seem to be very popular and they engage with people.”

“They are bright, colourful, and interesting – great for the town.”
Cllr Thorne said people would otherwise have to travel to places such as Exeter or Bristol to find anything like it.
