A WELLINGTON couple have described the experience of having to cancel their wedding twice this year because of Covid-19 as ‘horrible’, writes Barry Knott.

“The stress has been enormous,” said Emma Wiltshire, 43, who lives with her fiancée Justin Ward, 47, on the Cades Farm estate but are planning a move to Hemyock.

“We started planning for the wedding at St Mary’s Church in Hemyock two years ago and wanted to get married this year,” she added.

“We had to call it off in May and we’ve now had to cancel again for next month. It was set not to happen this year.

“The new date is May 3 of next year, which is a Bank Holiday. We would liked to have got married on a Saturday but that’s not possible – all Saturdays are out of the question.

“We have lost £200 in printing costs but the time factor in arranging and calling off the wedding twice has been phenomenal. We’ve put so much work into it.

“But we have been lucky in the fact that all our suppliers have agreed to the third new date. Otherwise we could easily have been greatly out of pocket.”

The reception will be held at the Hartnell Hotel, near Tiverton, the couple’s original choice of venue.

Emma is general manager of WPA Health Insurance The Clinical Team while Justin is in the maintenance department at the new Hinkley Point station being built and has two children from a previous marriage.
