THE occupants of this vehicle, which had hit electricity poles and gone down an embankment, had fled the scene by the time two fire crews from Wellington arrived.

The single vehicle collision happened at Bagley Road at the junction with Exeter Road on Friday evening.

Police had called firefighters to help them and the vehicle was made safe.

Western Power attended to isolate the electricity poles.
