WELLINGTON'S first Deputy Mayor, Cllr Janet Reed, could face being kicked out of the post after it was alleged she used her role in order to make a political point.
In a row that pits the Deputy Mayor head-to-head with Town Mayor Cllr Peter Critchard, Cllr Reed, Conservative, could face censure at the October meeting of Wellington Town Council following an item in a Taunton Conservative publication.
In a strongly-worded letter copied to the WWN this week, Wellington Town Mayor Cllr Peter Critchard has voiced his concern that Cllr Reed, who represents Wellington West ward, had "allowed the Conservative party to use your role as the Deputy Town Mayor in order to make a political point."
And he has told her that he is to request the matter be put before the next meeting of the Town Council.
