Wellington to lose its former WH Smith store just five months after takeoverWellington Town Council is looking at improving facilities for dog walkers to properly dispose of the poo left behind by their animals while out and about in the town.
And members of the council’s environment committee recently agreed they should make the public aware they can use general litter bins in the town for dog waste on condition it is properly wrapped up.
The situation of dog poo facilities in the area arose after Cllr Marcus Barr said a new bin should be installed on the popular dog-walking route through Rockwell Green.
It was also said that an existing bin – owned by Dobree Park – at Dobree Park on the Exeter Road had been ‘swallowed up’ into a hedge.
Councillors recommended that they check the locations of dog waste bins within their ward, while costings for new bins would be investigated.
