WELLINGTON Monument & District Ploughing Society held their annual match at Hornsey Farm, Nynehead, on Thursday of last week - by kind permission of Robin ad Carol Darby.
Ploughmen arriving were sent off into the fog to find their plots but after a few hours it lifted and the sun broke out on what turned out to be a beautiful day.
Secretary Peter Hill thanked Robin and Carol Darby for allowing the society to use their ground as ‘it is some of the best in England.’
The judges were impressed with the quality of ploughing. Results included - Vintage Trailed: 1 M Smale, 2 P Mancini, 3 A Stacey. Vintage Hydraulic: 1 A Westcott, 2 M Franklin, 3 D Franklin. Classic Tractors and Plough: 1 P Studley, 2 A Gell. 3 P Greet. Ferguson: 1 D Bryant, 2 G Pursey, 3 N Stewart.
