A NEW, fun community choir was set to launch in Wellington last week.

It is open to everyone from radio ‘sing-a-longers’ to professionals – the group has an open door policy.

Fodo Higginson, the group’s music facilitator, said: “If you fancy having a go, just turn up and join in.

“We’ll be singing a mix of songs – pop, soul, world, gospel and more. Some in parts and some with harmonies.”

The choir will just use lyric sheets and guitar accompaniment – no music.

Fodo, an experienced singer and trained voice tutor, began singing as a small child and the joy of singing has never left her.

She added: “I just love hearing people finding their own voice. The health benefits are enormous – starting with feeling happier”

Fodo also runs an ensemble group in Wiveliscombe singing songs with a social conscience ‘We Rise Singing – Conscience in Harmony’ (pictured).

The Wellington choir will meet on Thursdays during term time from 7.30-9pm at the Quaker Friends Meeting House, High Street (£5 payable on the door – concessions available).
