FIXING potholes on West Somerset and Wellington roads costs Somerset Council an average of between £98 and £123.
The figures were revealed by Somerset executive Cllr Richard Wilkins, who was answering a question from Conservative group leader Cllr Diogo Rodrigues.
Cllr Wilkins said ‘entirely reliable’ figures were difficult because of the varying size and scale of potholes, and the logistical challenges involved.
He said: “The cost of repairing potholes varies significantly, depending on the size, depth, and urgency, the location, whether traffic management is needed, and whether or not it is a machine-laid patch.
“There are multiple different types of potholes, but we calculate the average cost of repair between April and October, 2025, as £123.32.
“This reduces to £98.63 when considering single pothole repairs.”
