FORMER Wellington footballer John Phillips has died at the age of 80.

He was a no-nonsense striker who played for Wellington in the Taunton Saturday and Somerset County Leagues during the 1960s and 70s.

He lived for many years in Churchfields, Wellington, before being taken into care at Pulsford Lodge, Wiveliscombe.

His funeral will be held at Tuesday, June 30, with only family attending.
