AN AWARD-WINNING farm shop in Somerset has launched a new Food To Go service to help people short on time.  Rumwell Farm Shop, on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington, is now offering a grab-and-go facility from a side hatch from 7am, Monday to Friday and 8.30am on Saturdays.

Anne Mitchell, Partner at Rumwell Farm Shop, said: “After months of behind-the-scenes hard work, we’re delighted to announce that we’ve now opened our new Food To Go service.

“Our exciting new venture is on the car park side of our building. It allows anyone who has limited time and needs a warming, or cooling, drink and something nourishing to eat, the chance to get what they need fast.

“It’s perfect for anyone out for the day who needs breakfast first or who has forgotten their lunch for work. It’s also ideal for parents or grandparents who want to feed their kids or grandkids quickly between weekend activities and those stopping off while travelling on the M5 too. We’re catering for anyone who has no time to sit-in – they can now get some of the very best items we make here onsite to take-out!

“Our food menu includes breakfast baps, burgers, sandwiches, soup, sausages rolls and pasties, crisps and cake, and our legendary doughnuts. Our drinks list features a range of coffees and teas, as well as soft drinks. As we’ve only recently opened, we’re just getting started at the moment with our offering. With time we’re looking to also add a range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options too. Watch this space!”

The Food To Go service has an instore counter as well, which is open during normal opening hours, so visitors can get something to-go while shopping too.

Anne adds: “Our grab-and-go menu, which is available on our website, is based on the delicious, homemade items our award-winning shop and café offer instore, featuring our own farm produce and our Made at Rumwell products too.

“They include our Butchery made burgers using only the finest Angus beef from our own cattle and pork from our free-range pigs, which are all hand-reared on our farm just up the road.

“We’re using fresh bread and cakes baked daily by our Bakery team and we’re offering items made by our Deli, as well as freshly filled baps.”

Rumwell Farm Shop is an independent, family-run, award-winning business owned by the Mitchell family. It was originally a potato store, when David and Anne Mitchell began selling their potatoes and free-range eggs at the gate more than 25 years ago.

Due to customer demand, the range of products soon increased, and the farm shop grew into the place it is today. David and Anne’s sons, James and Jack, are now also involved in the business, as well as their wives, Sophie and Donna.

Rumwell Farm Shop, which won nine Taste of the West Gold Awards in 2022 for its shop and café and also for some of its made onsite products, has a traditional Butchery counter selling its home-reared and free-range pork and Rumwell Angus beef. It’s traditional, dry cured back bacon was recently given the title of overall Champion Bacon in the Taste of the West Awards.

There is also a Delicatessen, Bakery, Jam Kitchen, Food Hall, Wine Cellar, Gluten Free Kitchen, Food To Go service and Gift Room. Its Café kitchen has also achieved Coeliac UK’s Gluten Free accreditation.

The food prepared in the Café kitchen is sourced from the Farm Shop, the Mitchell family farm, which is just four miles away, and other regional suppliers.

Families are welcome to the Café and there is a menu especially for children. It also serves afternoon teas, Sunday carvery and is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages.
