UNLESS action was taken to make the derelict Tonedale mill safe and secure, a fatality could occur, said the Mayor of Wellington, Bob Bowrah, at the May meeting of Wellington Town Council.

Cllr John Thorne said it appeared that people could just walk in. Steps needed to be taken to keep people out.

Cllr Andrew Govier said the problem had to be sorted out. Taunton Deane Borough Council believed that the site was likely to remain derelict for a long period of time. Something serious was going to happen unless steps were taken to make it safe.

It was agreed to contact the owners to ask for the site to be made secure to keep people out.
