A FESTIVAL of Remembrance to mark the centenary of the start of the First World War was held at St John the Baptist Church, Wellington, on Sunday (Aug 3).

It started with a recreation of the peaceful atmosphere of the early summer and then the sudden transformation of war with music, hymns, poetry readings and contemporary news items.
