THE Welliestock Music Festival at Wellesley Park School in Wellington on Saturday night was marred by fighting in a cul-de-sac right by the venue.

Trouble broke out at the entrance to the festival at about ten a night and this continued for more than hour involving more than 30 people, mostly young men and women.

Threats were made to at least one resident who asked them to move on while security staff mostly looked on.

One resident said there were at least four fights, involving up to 30 people. Festival goers were unaware of the trouble at the time.

She phoned the police twice but they did not arrive until the trouble was over, having come over from the other side of Norton Fitzwarren.

Another resident in Homefield, said trouble was brewing earlier in the evening when a gang of youngsters, both boys and girls, started hanging around the street and kicking parking cones all over the place.

They returned to the street and did the same as they left later, cones being tossed everywhere.

"Either they were on something or they have a screw loose, Probably both," he said. "Believe it or not, I missed the fighting but I suspect these youngsters were involved."
